PediPlace is a community owned not-for-profit-corporation whose mission is to make healthcare a reality for every kid. This care is provided at two clinic locations in N. Texas: our legacy “headquarters” location in Lewisville and a school based clinic created in partnership with the Lewisville Independent School District. Nearly 7,000 unduplicated patients are served annually by the medical director, a paid staff of nurse practitioners / physician assistants, volunteer primary care physicians, and a network of volunteer specialty physicians. PediPlace provides a cost effective community based, patient centered medical home practice model for the provision of primary care pediatrics to patients receiving Medicaid and CHIP benefits, and patients who are uninsured. PediPlace provides a complete scope of primary care pediatric services to children ages birth-eighteen.

Primary Responsibilities

The Medical Director serves as the supervisor of acute, chronic, and preventive medical services provided in and through PediPlace. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Direct supervision of nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, and other medical providers practicing at PediPlace
  • At least eighty percent (80%) of time spent in direct patient care
  • Outpatient management of medically complex and behavioral health patients
  • Coordinating with the Director of Clinical Operations / lead Nurse Practitioner to ensure mutual collegiality and mutual professional respect among the medical team
  • Case consultation, staff education, community outreach, and family health education in cooperation with area hospitals
  • Performing chart reviews and other processes / procedures required to assure quality medical services are being provided
  • Promoting and developing best clinical practices at PediPlace
  • Participate in limited “2nd Telephone Call” rotation, generally once every sixth-ninth week
  • Interacting with volunteer physicians to promote PediPlace, and encourage volunteer engagement
  • Engaging with the PediPlace Staff Leadership Team and President and CEO to insure that the overall operations of PediPlace are coordinated and that all grant requirements are being fulfilled

Scheduling

The medical director position is intended to be a full-time position in line with regular Monday-Friday clinic hours. Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required based on special clinics and community events. PediPlace is open to discussing a part-time engagement.
