The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to fill a position on the TRS Medical Board. Medical Board members must be physicians licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas and be of good standing in the medical profession. The position requires the Medical Board member to review applications for disability retirement from TRS, along with supportive documentation, and to render a decision on whether a TRS member is mentally or physically disabled from the further performance of duty and whether the disability is probably permanent. The majority of TRS disability retirements have been related to neurological, metabolic, neoplastic, psychological, cardiovascular, or degenerative joint diseases, or related to back problems. Medical Board members are appointed to the three-member board for a three-year term and paid $42,000 per year for services performed under contract.

For more details and information regarding the TRS RFQ process, please refer to the RFQ posting Solicitation ID 323-18-00019 on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily (ESBD), or contact TRS Procurement & Contracts contact Brenda Black. The current deadline for a Physician’s submission of a response to the TRS RFQ is June 6, 2018.

TRS is under no legal obligation or any other type of obligation to execute any contract on the basis of this notice.
